Smartphone cameras have gotten so good that we struggle to find a reason to invest in a point-and-shoot, but there are still major advancements being made in camera tech that are light years ahead of anything you can fit in your pocket. A new panorama shot by China’s Jingkun Technology (calling themselves “Big Pixel”) is a great example of that, and its size is so jaw-dropping you could spend days staring at it.

The photo, taken from high on the Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai, shows the surrounding landscape in stunning detail. From your virtual perch many stories above the ground, you can zoom in so far that you can read the license plates on cars and spot smiling faces greeting each other on the sidewalk.

The image itself is way too large to post here, but you can visit the company’s website and use their online tool to enjoy it for yourself. It’s a bit like a treasure hunt, and you can easily lose some serious time just trying to find new and interesting things to check out. However, a bit of a warning: Jingkun’s website has been experiencing some downtime since the image was posted (likely due to lots and lots of visitors) so if the link leads to a dead end just try again later.

So, just how large is the image? It’s large enough that the numbers are actually hard to grasp. Consider your average smartphone camera, which is around 12 megapixels, give or take a few depending on what flagship model you own. It takes some pretty sharp photos, right? Well this image of Shanghai is 195 gigapixels. One megapixel equals one million pixels, while a gigapixel equals one billionpixels… and we’re talking about 195 gigapixels in this particular image.

It’s a remarkable sight, but it’s also somewhat scary. As camera technology reaches incredible milestones like this it raises the question of when (not if) it’ll be before it is used for mass surveillance. How long will it be before just walking out your front door means being observed by a camera from miles away? The likely answer is “sooner than we’d like.”

Four in 10 NHS hospitals in England have increased car parking prices in the last year, new data suggests.

A total of 124 of the 152 trusts running hospitals responded to Freedom of Information requests by the Press Association, with 53 saying prices had gone up for visitors or staff, or both.

Some trusts had doubled the cost of certain stays for visitors in 2017-18.

Several hospitals defended the charges, saying some or all of it goes back into patient care or maintaining car parks.

But unions said some staff were having to pay "through the nose" to park at work.

Tax on the sick'

Data published by NHS Digital in October shows NHS trusts made more than £226m from parking fees, including penalty fines, in the last financial year.

The PA analysis highlighted:

A stay of four to 24 hours at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust in West Yorkshire now costing £8, up from £3.50, with a £5 fee for two to four hours, up from £3
An overhaul of charges at Shrewsbury and Telford hospital that has seen the cost of a five-hour stay more than double since October 2017 to £8
Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool's scrapping a £2 flat rate
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals doubling the costs of a four-to-six hour stay to £6, while lowering the cost of a one-hour stay from £3 to £2.50
Frimley Health in Surrey being one of the highest earning trusts in England from parking, making £4.5m and raising costs in the last two financial years

NEW DELHI: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday said that six items have been removed from the 28 per cent tax bracket under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime.

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council on Saturday slashed rates on 23 items such as televisions and movie tickets while keeping tax rate on cement and auto parts unchanged. Additionally, the Council proposed to cut GST rates on six of the items from 28 percent to 18 percent. Retreated Tyres, video games and sporting equipment, movie tickets, billiards and snookers and lithium battery power banks will attract 18 percent GST.

Wheelchair accessories too have been proposed to be brought under 5 percent bracket from 28 percent.

Recommendationsof the GST Council’s fitment committee on rate rationalisation and balancing revenue flows were considered during the meeting, FM Arun Jaitley said.

Cement rate was left unchanged at 28 percent during the 31st meeting of the GST Council as it has huge revenue implications. Cutting rates on cement and auto parts would cost the exchequer a Rs 13,000 crore and Rs 20,000 crore loss, respectively, Jaitley said.
There were 34 items in the 28 per cent tax bracket which included luxury and 'sin goods' till now. However, the GST Council in its meeting on Saturday decided to take out 6 items from this list. Today's GST rate reduction will have an overall impact on revenue of Rs 5500 crore, said Jaitley.
New return filing system will be started on trial basis from April 1, to be implemented mandatorily by July 1. Due date for GST Annual Return and Audit Report extended till 30th June 2019.
Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley said that the recommendations by the fitment panel have been considered in today's meet.
GST rate on special flights for pilgrims lowered for economy at 5 percent and business class at 12 percent.
* Air conditioners, dishwashers largely used by upper segment of society, left at 28%.
* GST for cinema tickets less than Rs 100 reduced from 18% to 12%, for tickets above than Rs 100, GST reduced from 28% to 18%.
* The council rationalised the 28 per cent slab by bringing down the tax rate on seven items in the highest tax bracket, thereby leaving only 28 items ..
IIM courses and Bank charges(savings bank, Jan Dhan Yojana ) has been exempted.

What is the law for drone users?

New laws came into force in July 2018 which banned drones flying anywhere in the UK above 400ft (122m).

Users are also prohibited from flying them within 1km (0.62 miles) of airport boundaries.

Commercial drones have GPS which sends an alert if the device breaches those limits and stops it functioning.

However, many people make their own drones which will not have these systems fitted.

Shop-bought devices can also be hacked so that GPS limits can be breached.

Drones tend to have a battery life of about 30 minutes, but some users can stay in the air for longer.

Those who break the law around altitude and airport proximity could face an unlimited fine, up to five years in prison, or both.

Department for Transport (DfT) research found that a drone weighing 400g could smash a helicopter windscreen.

The study also found a drone weighing 2kg could critically damage a passenger aircraft's windscreen.

Should children be banned from owning drones?

The House of Commons passed laws in May meaning that users who fly drones weighing 250g or more will have to register with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

It comes into force in November 2019and drone pilots will also be required to take an online safety test.

The DfT said it was also considering introducing an age restriction which would ban children from owning drones weighing more than 250g.

The department also said it was considering give police powers to issue on-the-spot fines of up to £300 for misuse and the ability to seize drones being used irresponsibly.

Okinawa I-Prese will be launched in January next month. However, Okinawa has started booking Eye Surgage. You can book this electric scooter by giving Rs 5,000. It is priced at Rs 71,460 and Rs 69,789. Only 500 scooters will be booked in pre-launch booking. Before the limited booking, the company claims it will be taken before the customer's response. Then it will be fully marketed. The scooter can be booked by the company's more than 200 official dealers.

According to the company, Okinawa Eye Presage has a high speed of 75 km per hour. It has a 1000 watts power setup. The scooter features features such as mobile charging, USB port and anti-theft alarm. Okinawa I-Fragg's weight is almost 40% less than Okinawa's Prez.
